For so long
My heart had beat
Against the grain,
And trampled feet.
Wander to
And fro, it seemed.
All hope was lost.
Was love undreamed?
Then one day
I came upon
A damsel who
My heart would fawn.
“Couldn’t be,”
I said that day.
“She’s too perfect
In ev’ry way.”
Simple smiles,
She flashed at me.
She took my hand
She guided me.
Through the land,
Across the shore,
Each step we took
Caused love to soar.
Then we stopped,
A forest clear.
I pulled her tight
I drew her near.
In soft voice
I whispered true,
“Don’t let me go.
Don’t say adieu.”
Twinkles in
Her eyes appeared.
My words of love
Brought joyous tears.
Same she felt,
I soon would find.
“My love for […]
I thought I saw beauty, and then I saw this.
Wonderful, graceful, full of sparkles and bliss.
Joy in your heart reflected onto your face.
For you were dolled up all pretty with lace.
Yet the truth all us knew, the truth it would be
Is that the beauty beneath is more than the beauty we see.
To the woman who is wonderful,
To the gal I think is swell,
To the lady that warms my life,
And caused my guard to fell.
Every second do I think of you,
Every touch is on my mind,
Every whisper rings into my ears,
And love is what I find.
In the midst of an endless dream,
as my heart races and the moonlight beams;
The gentle flutter of a long goodbye,
dissipates as you catch my eye.
And soon you speak with voice so soft,
no more was life who’s kilter off;
Standing there, across the room,
one soul’s smile caused the other to bloom.
It wasn’t that he wanted to
Nor was it that he tried
But as he thought about it
This couldn’t be denied
Burrowed into consciousness
Thoughts of her all the time
It was as if he committed
Some seriously heinous crime
But this was not punishment
Or a sentence to carry out
Rather t’was a blessing
Something to truly shout
He could close his eyes and see
Her golden tresses flow
And her ruby lips kissing his
Beneath the Christmas bow
Her sparkling eyes enchanting
Every fiber of his soul
No matter what happened next
He wouldn’t let her go
She haunted all his waking thoughts
And most his dreams […]
When no words will do
And no phrase will say
How the heart does hurt
With each passing day
And the void inside
Makes grown men meek
All they can do
Is let silence speak
For the life that’s gone
The flame that died
Oft night since then
They’ve sat and cried
A branch of life
They held so close
And now they’ve lost
The one loved most
And then they wake
Wish them still there
And not given unto
Death’s icy stare
With mouth spread wide
No voice comes through
But the silence speaks
The words for you
And so, I wait.
As the seconds turn to minutes,
And the minutes turn to hours;
I wait.
As the moon begins to set,
And gives way to oncoming daylight;
I wait.
As the heavens part away,
And the presence of God envelops;
I wait.
As the birds begin their song,
And the land is filled with music;
I wait.
I wait for a question to be answered.
I wait for a promise to be fulfilled.
I wait.
My heart was wound up tighter
Than a caterpillar in a cocoon
These silky strands held me there
I knew I must break out soon
For eons the pain was present
The wound was red and sore
From the trials that life brought
I swore I could take no more
And then one sunny day
As my bonds grew ever tight
An angel came to see me
She helped me see the light
Her hands unwrapped my bondage
That often made me cry
And with her gentle touch
My heart beat like the wings… of a butterfly
The dew drop drips on a cold morning
From the windowsill
To the petals on the flowers below
The royal redness of the rose
Shines, glitters, reflects its beauty
Across the room with each splash
Resembling a rainbow.
More and more and more now
I try to eradicate the still images from my mind
To set my soul free
To release it from this pain
Of being so close
And yet unable to touch
Unable to touch
Unable to feel
Unable to kiss
To kiss the sweet lips
The sweet, red lips like the roses
And the sweet smell of dew drops in the air
Forever sweet
And forever […]
